Stewardship Sunday, November 20
Dear Grace Family,
Even though Stewardship is ongoing, this is the month when we will renew our financial commitment to our beloved Grace Church and its ministries. On November 20, we will celebrate our Stewardship Sunday; and just as previous years together as a family, we will put our pledge cards in to support all the wonderful ministries that touch so many lives.
As we pray, the bare Stewardship tree in the narthex of our Church will come alive again with many green leaves. Thus, it is my hope that all our names will be found among those leaves.
Grace seeks to be a visible sign of God's love in this world. Hence, all that we do for the kingdom of God comes from our love for people and is done in the name of our God. It is this apostolic action that separates our faith community from a secular community. Apostolic actions are what make us not only followers of Christ but His disciples.
We all know that apostolic actions such as helping the less privileged as well as spiritually nourishing a congregation, have its price apart from talent and time. It costs money. Every month we have bills to pay just as you have in your private life. If you pay a couple thousand dollars for your insurance, just imagine how much our huge Church building costs to insure (if you are interested in detailed information about costs, please join us this year for our annual meeting or speak to our treasurer).
I do not ask you to sacrifice your life for your belief as so many saints did. What I would like you to do is to look at your total annual family income and truly calculate how much you can afford to give to your Parish. Can you give to the church at all? What would change in your budget if instead you would give $25 a week to the church?
Please prayerfully discern the amount that is right for you and your family. And then, please make that financial commitment to your church when handing in your pledge card on Stewardship Sunday.
Thank you for your continuous support of our beloved Church Home and the many new ministries that we together have embarked upon during my time here at Grace.
May God bless you and your family,
Father Walter+, TSSF
