On July 16, 1228, Francis of Assisi was proclaimed a saint by <link https: en.wikipedia.org wiki pope_gregory_ix gregory>Pope Gregory IX. He is known as the patron saint of animals and the environment, and is one of the two patron saints of Italy.
It is customary for Anglican and Catholic churches to hold ceremonies blessing animals on or near his feast day of October 4.
Pets hold a special place in our lives as loved ones and members of the family. Bring your pets to the steps of Grace Church for a special blessing. Dogs, cats, birds etc. are all welcome. Take a picture with Fr. Walter and your pet receiving this special blessing. (weather permitting)
