An Easter Message
Dear people of God, Now that you all have said it: “The Lord is risen indeed” what are you going to do with it? How does the risen Christ change your daily life? If Easter doesn't change anything for you what is it all about? Has it become a nice additional Holiday? A Family feast? For us believers, Jesus' death and resurrection incredibly impacted our lives. Jesus overcame death for us so that we can have life, everlasting life. This fact changes a lot for us. It changes how we approach life and how we live our lives. Easter provides us with much comfort and Hope! We now know that our journey here on earth is not for nothing. We do not just fall asleep and fade away. We will live on entering the heavenly courts and living with God and all the saints and angels. That is God's promise to us and that is why Easter is so significant for us Christians. Scripture not just promised these things, but God showed us through Jesus' death and resurrection that all the promises God made will become true for us. Easter provides us with a glimpse of what our own journey will look like. “After my awaking, he will raise me up; and in my body I shall see God. I myself shall see, and my eyes behold him who is my friend and not a stranger” BCP. p. 491. Alleluia. Christ is risen!
I wish you a Happy Easter season. The Rev. Dr. Walter V. Hillebrand Priest, Family Friend
