Lenten Food Drive - Lenten 40 day Walking Path
Add even more meaning to the Lenten season by helping others
Lenten Food Drive - In the past, during Lent, we were taught to sacrifice something - maybe give up dessert or chocolate; but today we are encouraged to take something on - i.e., attend a Lenten Program, read scriptures, or do good deeds. In light of doing good deeds, please find attached a Lenten 40-Day Walking Path. Let’s join forces and walk the pathway to help feed the hungry on Long Island. The food collected will be picked up by Island Harvest and distributed to food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, senior centers and more.
If you start the path on Ash Wednesday, March 2, it will end on Holy Saturday, April 16. The pathway contains the most requested Food Bank items. Please give based on what’s in your heart. Maybe ask a family member, a neighbor, or a friend to participate in Grace’s efforts as well. Let’s show Long Island how much we care!
For your convenience, collections will be made on:
Wednesday, March 30 8 AM to 12 Noon
Thursday, April 7 8 AM to 12 Noon
Saturday, April 16 8 AM to 12 Noon
There are 6 items listed on the pathway each week of Lent, which hopefully will make purchasing a little bit easier. Please check the expiration dates and ensure that packages are sealed, cans are not dented and glass jars are not included in your donation. Drive up on a collection day, pop your trunk and your boxes/bags will be off-loaded.
Thank you in advance for your help,
Debi and Richie Csajko
