Food Pantry/ Meals Program (Inspired by Grace)
Economic conditions affect communities and population segments in many different ways. After meeting with local officials, Grace launched 2015 a new ministry directed at senior citizens and families in the Town of Oyster Bay Housing Complex located in East Massapequa. Due to age and/or their individual economic situation there are many residing in this complex needing assistance on occasion with food related issues.
We have expanded our food collection and distribution efforts to provide food and meals to these impacted families senior citizens. Monthly, Church volunteers prepare and serve a complete Sunday afternoon dinner to seniors and families at their community room within the housing complex. We serve more than food; we serve companionship, conversation and an occasional prayer to those in their golden years. The meal program also provides leftovers for the seniors and a package of non-perishable food for them to take with them.
If you wish to contribute non-perishable grocery items please leave them in the wicker basket in the Narthex. If you want to be inspired and help other volunteers prepare, setup or serve a senior meal, please call the Church office and they will forward your contact information to the program coordinator.
